5-Ingredient Strawberry Almond Torte

In the spirit of Valentine's Day, I thought this 5-ingredient strawberry almond torte would be perfect in the shape of a heart. I originally had to make this simple recipe for a cooking lab requirement for school. It's grain-free, gluten free, and delicious. I hope you will LOVE it as much as I do.

All you need is:

2 1/2 cups almond flour

3 eggs (room temperature)

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1tbsp maple syrup

1/2 tsp sea salt

*Optional (but seriously, do it) raw honey for drizzling

Into two mixing bowls, separate three egg yolks and whites. Use an electric mixer to beat the egg whites for a few minutes until they reach a stiff peak (beyond just foamy; you should see a little foam peak when you lift the mixer up). Next, blend the egg yolks. Stir in the vanilla extract, maple syrup, sea salt, and almond flour. Once mixed, fold in the egg white foam. Press mixture into a small pan for baking (I used a glass baking dish with coconut oil spray to prevent sticking). Bake at 350 for twenty-ish minutes, until edges are slightly browned.

When baking is done and torte has cooled, move it to a cutting board and use a sharp knife to create your desired shape. Top with sliced strawberries (good with banana slices, too!) and a drizzle of raw honey. Enjoy!
